Listen: DJ Shadow - "All Bases Covered" Mix

DJ Shadow recently dropped the "All Basses Covered Mix (The Infamous South Beach Set, December 2012) to both do the world a favor and see what vibe he is currently on and to expose the ridiculous Mansion nightclub in Miami for kicking him off the DJ decks for playing this exact set, which prompted the above tweet. For a FREE DL of the mix and a break down of what happened...

To paraphrase what happened that sparked off the madness, Shadow was given a tap on the shoulder to cut his set short to which he replied. “I’ve waited a long time to play here,” he told the dancefloor on the mic, “but they said this shit is too future.”

"Obviously I should have never been booked there in the first place. Square peg in a round hole. Ironically it was drum and bass that broke the camel’s back (!). Note to self…play more drum and bass! Or maybe it was all the trap and juke that preceded it.”

Shadow always brings a complicated set to stage and if the cornball crowd can't handle something they never heard before, then they should do some research on who they are watching. Check out the mix your self and see if you would have done the same. Mixing music ranging from hardcore rap to footwork and juke and beyond, Shadow combs the web to curate seamless and dexterous blends of the most progressive sounds bubbling up from the underground. Too hard? Too future? Or just too raw? You decide!
