Fine Art Friday: Ed Fairburn - "Map Portraits"

Welsh artist Ed Fairburn creates unique portraits that integrate the topography of antique maps with human facial features, creating a densely detailed and multi-layered portrait of the subject that seems to speak volumes about a person's individual story and backgrounds. I have seen many people try to use maps as an interesting background for image making, but rarely have I seem the incorporation of roads, rivers and other topographic elements to create a sort-of circulatory system for faces and bodies drawn on top of the maps surface. Fairburn is having his first american show in Denver, Colorado and will hopefully gain some new fans stateside for his work heavy images. More pics after the jump.

Video: Supastition - "Nothing Like It"

One of my favorite emcee's, Supastition, just dropped a video for my favorite track, "Nothing Like It", from the collabo album "Honest Living" with producer Croup. The vibe of the track is a feel good anthem, with honest lyrics about overcoming struggles and accomplishing goals. Glad to see Supa continue to make quality music in the face of hardships. Check it out and support one of hip hops underdogs.

Video: Jermiside X Danny Diggs - "Bloodline"

Six months after the release of their sophomore album, "Quiet As Kept", Jermiside and Danny Diggs give us the second video from the album for the single "Bloodline". Showing his southern charm, Jermiside brings quality verses honoring his family and personal attributes over a soulful and mellow drag from Diggs. One of my favorite cuts on the album and a reminder to check out and support some musical underdogs.

Video: Soulpete - "Dead Or Alive" ft. Hezekiah + DJ Ace

I recently came across the work of producer Soulpete and took a listen to his upcoming debut production album entitled “Soul Raw”. With guest features like Blu, Guilty Simpson, Hezekiah, Oddisee, Pacewon, Smif N Wessun and many more. If this first single "Dead or Alive" is any indication of the quality to expect, then it should be a solid debut. Check it out!
