Fine Art Friday: Jay Shells - "The Rap Quotes" Series

Artist and designer Jay Shells has been posting street signage around New York, often in the neighborhoods discussed in the lyrics, that pays homage to some of his favorite rap quotes. Presenting them on standard metal signs that look like the common parking signs cluttered around each curb in NYC, he flips the idea of communicating warnings and laws and dedicates a series of less obvious quotes from MCs such as Tragedy Khadafi, Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Jay Z, Mos Def, Kanye West, Gza, Nas, Jeru the Damaja, DJ Premier, and more.
