Fine Art Friday: Arthur Tress - "Dream Collector"

Recently revisited photos from lesser known 1960s photographer Arthur Tress have emerged, where he developed a series of photographs that were inspired by the dreams of children and illustrated their descriptions through his lens. Entirely shot in black and white, Tress aimed at exploring the darker side of a child’s subconsciousness and shines a light on less talked about elements of growing up, inner demons and fears, which I am always fond of. Check out the book, if you can find it, titled “Arthur Tress: The Dream Collector”.

Listen: Dizzy Wright x Bishop Nehru x 9th Wonder - "BrILLiant Youth" EP

Linking with clothing brands seems to go hand in hand with a successful run in today's music scene, but 9th Wonder has consistently partnered with LRG for almost 10 years and the results often lead to new introductions and collaborations. Playing on the concept of combining various styles, 9th linked with up and coming underground stars Bishop Nehru and Dizzy Wright for a quick EP that lets 9th flex his beats with less typical guests. My favorite track is 'Isolated' but the entire EP helps shine a light on the fact that on the right beats, folks can see how diverse a sound their favorite emcee really is.

Listen: Dumhi - "The Jungle" Instrumentals

Producer and Philly mainstay Dumhi, recently dropped the instrumental version of the album 'The Jungle' (vocal version of The Jungle also available) and the project holds it's own compared to the vocal version featuring emcees like Reef the Lost Cauze, Che Grand, Jermiside, Oxygeen and more. Always down to support fellow producers and true school heads, so check out the work of the Philly purist and help shine a light on some quality backdrop music.
