Though this may not be hip hop related necessarily, but given the prominent tattoo culture of the hip hop community at times, something about Portland-based artist Jason Borders series of ornately carved animal skulls struck a chord with me and I wanted to feature his work. Each of the skulls are carved by hand using a Dremel tool, and use repeated, ornate patterns and styles with tattoo-esque motifs and dense shapes.the work is dedicated to the eternal human issues of life and death, and I wish I had one to hang on my wall.

Video: CunninLynguists - "South California" ft. Tunji
On the heels of dropping the excellent album, Strange Journey Volume Three, The Cunninlynguists (Kno and Deacon The Villain) recently dropped the visuals for the track "South California" which they teamed with Cali artist Tunji for. One of my favorite tracks on the album, the crew finds the CLs and Tunji walking Cali landscapes and talking about relationships and lost connections. Classy, summertime track from all involved and great match for the vibe of the track.
